Here are some fun books that young campers will enjoy! From exciting stories to books about constellations, and activities to do while camping, there is plenty of choices for everyone!
S Is for S’mores: A Camping Alphabet Helen Foster James

We have a few books in this series and love them all! Like the title mentions, each page is a different letter, however the words are not your typical words and are more complex or even new for children. For this camping book, you will see words such as Adventure, Beach camp, Canyon, etc. The illustrations are beautiful, and the text is very informative for elementary school children. Older preschoolers might enjoy the book as well if you only read them the rhymes.

Biscuit Goes Camping Alyssa Satin Capucilli

Biscuit is very excited to go camping! Follow him in his adventures as he learns about tents, flashlights, frogs, fireflies, and more! This book is very sweet and great for early readers. Younger children like to have the book read aloud as well.

Curious George Goes Camping H. A. Rey

This Curious George book is a huge favorite of all 3 of my boys and is our to-go book to read at night when camping. As with all the Curious George books, the story is fun and engaging and it also teaches that fire can be useful but also dangerous.

Good Night Campsite Adam Gamble

This book is a board book from the Good Night Our World series. It takes the reader through an entire camping day, from the early morning wake up, through the days' activities, and it ends with the evening by the campfire. This book has lovely illustrations and fun to read rhymes that toddlers love!

True Ghost Stories for Kids: Fifty Spine-Tingling Ghostly Tales Barbara Smith

If you and your children like ghost stories, this is a great book to read by the campfire! Recommended for children ages 8 and up.

This National Geographic book is a stunning photobook with shiny silver stars that kids love. It introduces the animals in the constellation through short, poetic legends. It is a great book for all ages!

This book is adorable for any child who liks camping. It is a great book for children ages 5 and up- or children who will be first time. It is also good for toddlers and preschoolers as well.

Glow in the Dark Constellations C.E. Thompson

This is an adorable story about Thunder Boy Jr. who wants his own name and does not want to share a name with his father. It is a beautiful story about seeking your own identity. It is best for older preschoolers and elementary-aged children. Sherman Alexie has written numerous books about modern Native American life that are suitable for teens and adults.
